Owner, Designer Type, Cincinnati, Ohio - 1980-1992.
Founder of typesetting/graphic design business. Part-time in 1980, became full-time after acceptance to college in 1981. Specialized in packaging and creating systems for streamlining database information for product labels and catalogs. Maximum 11 full-time employees. Sold in 1992 with CodeWorks.

Owner, CodeWorks, Cincinnati, Ohio - 1986-1992.
Created a system using C programming language and typesetting equipment to produce master quality bar codes for printing. This system made it possible to compete in an emerging national market with existing equipment and employees. The new owner licensed this system internationally after the business was sold in 1992.

Startup and operation of computer typesetting department for commercial printer. Member, Graphic Arts International Union.

Typesetting, layout, lithographic negative assembly for several national trade magazines.

Part-time. Responsible for all typesetting and layout of weekly community newspaper.

PUBLIC AND COMMUNITY SERVICE

President, Monroe Area Community Improvement Corporation, Monroe, Ohio - 2008-present.
A coalition of city and township governments, schools, businesses and citizens to improve and enhance economic development and volunteerism in the area. Founding member.

President, Warren County Municipal League 2008-present. (President since 2012).
WCML is a non-partisan organization consisting of members of area city and village council members. Affiliated with the Ohio Municipal League, which represents city and village interests before the General Assembly and provides updates on federal matters.

Vice President, Sidestreams Foundation LLC, 2013-present.
Founding board member. Sidestreams is organized to bring healthy food to urban food deserts in the Cincinnati area. Projects include a partnership with Lighthouse School which provides work experience and gardening knowledge to students through a community garden in Madisonville, and the 500 Gardens project which is installing raised bed gardens and providing gardening classes for residents of Madisonville. A vertically-integrated Ecolab to provide a model for a sustainable urban farm is currently in the planning stages.

City Plan Steering Committee, Monroe, Ohio - 1996-1997, 2008-2010.
Participated in the development of a 25-year strategic plan for the City of Monroe. Also served on the update committee for this plan.

Financial Planning and Supervision Commission, State of Ohio - 2005-2007.
State Auditor's committee for fiscal recovery, overseeing the City of Monroe. Monroe applied for fiscal emergency status in 2004 and was removed from fiscal emergency by the state in 2007.

Supports to Encourage Low-income Families (SELF) - 2004-present.
Community action agency providing education and building skills leading to self-sufficiency for low income residents of the county. Board member, 2004-2010. President, 2008-2009. Vice President, 2006-2007. Community Resource Development Chair, 2006-2009. Continue to serve on the Community Resource Development Committee.

Audit Committee, Butler County Educational Service Center - 2004-present.

Facilities Steering Committee, Monroe Local School District - 2000-2006.

Spokesperson/Organizer, CORE (Committee on Reviewing Education) - 1995-2000.
This committee worked to form a new school district for the City of Monroe, the first new district since the formation of the State Board of Education in 1954. The State Board of Education denied the request in 1997, but after placing a referendum on the ballot in Monroe and continued lobbying, the State Board voted to allow Monroe to create a new district in 1999. Also served on the Executive Committee, which developed the blueprint for the new district.

Board of Directors, Temple Beth Sholom, Middletown, Ohio - 2004-2009.
Created and currently maintain website codebase. Religious School Committee Chair, Newsletter editor (ongoing).

Friends of the Monroe Lending Library, Monroe, Ohio - 2004-present.
Public/community library opened in October 2005. Founding member. The library is operated and staffed through donations and volunteers. Created and maintain website codebase and cataloging programs.
